But Google wants to make more money from this tie-dye company, and this shirt company definitely wants its ad on more sites than just Google.  That’s where you come in.  The Adsense program allows you to make a similar deal with Google – only this time, Google is paying you.  You give Google the permission to post ads on your website, and Google pays you every time the ad is clicked.  No, you don’t get as much money from it as Google does, but they’ll pay you a portion of the profits they make from this tie-dye company, and many others, which means you make money from Google!

Another great feature of this program is that it automatically targets exactly the right audience.  Instead of just spamming somebody with banners and pop-ups as soon as they get onto a web page, it allows a site owner to select topics to advertise.  So your tie-dye fan page is now advertising to a community who would already be interested in this company.
