An Overview Of Home Burglar Alarm Systems

Home burglar alarm systems are a great investment. They can range in price form $100 to $10,000 and sometimes even more. What kind of alarm a person chooses is based on many factors including the size of the house, the area in which the home resides, and the desired personal safety level of the person or persons living in the home.

For those new to home security systems, living in a small, reliantly safe, community with a medium size house a small alarm system should do. A good alarm system will have a few main features that are important. It should have 1-2 keypads, coverage for all of the major outside facing doors in a home, motion detectors, and a large, loud siren to warn of any intruders. Most major companies that offer systems like this such as ADT, Brinks, and Slomins require a three to five year contract and a monthly fee. The monthly fee averages about around $30 a month, not including extras or taxes. This will cover an average home, but some buyers may want extra protection.

For extra monthly fees, each of the companies listed above can provide smoke detectors, wireless windows, back-up batteries, wireless connections, heat sensor, glass break sensor and more. Some of these may seem overboard, but in order to protect a family the smoke detectors and back-up batteries are highly recommended. Security systems are not just for the rich and famous anymore. They are available to protect average families in normal situations. Nobody knows when disaster will strike, but any major security company can provide homes with a security system that fits their needs and budget. Safety comes a price, but when it comes down to it, most people will pay that price for their families. When buying a security system, the question should not be how, but what. ADT and Brinks are now going to be one company. What is not mentioned in this article is the fact that ADT locks you into a long contract that auto renews. You pay 2 or 3 times as much as many of the local companies charge. You have to pay a hefty fee up front to get your system installed and then wait for 2 to 3 months for a refund to get their web special. You don’t even own the equipment. They say in their contract that if the install price is less that $600, they retain ownership. Just check the terms and conditions page of their web site.
